23rd Annual Art & Ulster Woodturners Christmas Exhibition 12/11/2009

Beautiful artwork and exquisite turned wood will be on display in Ballymoney Town Hall from 12th to 21st November. Most of the items will be for sale, so here is a wonderful opportunity to choose that extra special Christmas present from amongst the hundreds of superb pieces on display throughout the Town Hall.

It has been two years since the last woodturning exhibition, due to the museum being closed for refurbishment last year. Now Ballymoney Museum is delighted to welcome back long-standing favourite turners such as local man Billy Henry and Tom McCosh, as well as a selection of other award-winning turners, whose work has never before been seen in Ballymoney.

The quality of the work is outstanding and the museum owes a great deal to the team of turners who each year contribute their wonderful craft for display, their support and hard work has been vital to the success of the exhibition each year.

A stunning selection of finely finished vases, bowls, and numerous other turned items in a variety of different wood such as burr elm, bog oak, beech and elm to name but a few, will be shown off in high quality new display cases.

The beautifully turned wood is a perfect complement to the eye-catching oils, bold acrylics and delicate watercolours in Ballymoney Borough Arts Committee’s 23rd annual art exhibition. Featuring the work of over 100 artists from the local area and further afield, this excellent exhibition includes a great mix of traditional and more contemporary styles and themes. It’s no wonder that this is one of Ballymoney’s most popular exhibitions.

The exhibition is promoted by Ballymoney Museum and Ballymoney Arts Committee. The exhibition will be open Monday-Saturday 9am –5pm, Friday 9am-4.30pm, with late night opening Tuesday and Thursday 7.30 – 9pm. Admission is free.  For further details please contact Ballymoney Town Hall, Townhead Street, Tel: (028) 2766 0230.
