GHOSTLY TALK in Old Graveyard 23/10/2009

Among those buried in the town’s old graveyard is the town’s ghost George “Bloody” Hutchinson, a local magistrate infamous for his “on the spot” death sentences of the United Irishmen.  Also in the graveyard are the remains of United Irishman Alexander Gamble who was hanged at the Diamond in 1798.

As part of Ballymoney Town spirits of Halloween weekend you can listen to Council Museum Manager Keith Beattie tell the ghostly tale of George “Bloody” Hutchinson and the executed rebels of 1798 at 3.30 p.m. on Friday 30th October at the old church tower in the graveyard.  Children, accompanied by adults welcome. In the event of poor weather the event will be held in the nearby Glynns Bar.

The spirit of Halloween events in the town is being co-ordinated and marketed by Ballymoney Town Centre Management in association with Ballymoney Chamber of Commerce.
