During the midterm break, lots of spirits will be lurking about Ballymoney! A full programme of events has been coordinated by Ballymoney Town Centre Management in association with the Chamber of Commerce. A detailed programme can be found at www.visitballymoney.com/halloween or can be picked up at the Tourist Information Centre.
Flying in the face of the credit crunch, Fighting Spirit will be in Ballymoney up to 8.30pm on Friday night. Q97.2 will be in town for an evening of music and giveaways while you shop. Many restaurants, cafes and coffee shops will be opening late especially for the occasion. A full list of shops participating in the late night will be published on the website above.
Family Spirit is also very active as various events have been planned for all ages, over the weekend. Primary School Children aged 3 to 6 years have been colouring in for a chance to win one of 10 of £10 gift vouchers. Their artwork will be displayed from this week until 3rd November. Four to 8 year olds are invited to the library’s stories and crafts event, with booking essential, while a Halloween disco is being organised for 10 to 16 year olds in WAVE in Castlecroft. A Graveyard Talk on Friday should also get you into the spirit of the weekend.
Various Charity events in the town centre and in the pubs prove that Charitable Spirit is still very much alive in Ballymoney. For example, the whole town are invited to “Wear It Pink” on Friday, to help raise funds for Breast Cancer Research, with many town shops dressing their windows in pink too!
To quote that famous Nirvana song, Teen Spirit is pacing around Castlecroft as many young bands perform for an outdoor charity gig on the Saturday, on behalf of War on Want. This is aimed at everyone, and fancy dress is very welcome!
It wouldn’t be Halloween without fancy dress, so Fashion Spirit will be making her presence felt. Various pubs shall are planning Fancy Dress nights, live music, karaoke, even apple dunking!!
In addition, a new art gallery is also opening in Ballymoney, below Bell Architects in Main St, displaying the work of local artists. This year’s festival has something for everyone, young or old. Pick up your brochure now.
