CALLIGRAPHY
10-week course beginning

Beautiful handwriting is within your reach! Over the course duration, Betty will cover a range of topics suitable for both beginners and those at a more advanced level. These include first basic strokes through to letter grouping, inscribed stationery for every occasion, page layout, planning verse lines, space fillers and simple borders, different styles (italic, roundhand and gothic) and capital letters.

ONE-DAY CALLIGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Saturday 1 November,

Through Betty’s expertise, students will be introduced to the art of beautiful writing and will learn the basic Calligraphy and lettering skills. For students who make cards, this is an excellent opportunity to learn very basic inscriptions such as “Merry Christmas” and “Happy New Year”. Please bring with you a calligraphy pen and exercise practice book. If you
do not have a calligraphy pen, the tutor will have inexpensive felt-tip pens for purchase. 

CREATIVE WRITING
10-week course beginning

This ten week Creative Writing Course will cover short stories, poetry, personal memoir and drama under the guidance of an experienced tutor. All levels of writers welcome. Just bring notebook and pen and a willingness to join in and explore your ideas and imagination in
a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

THE ART OF DRAWING
10-week course beginning
Monday 22 September, 2pm-4pm

This course introduces the techniques involved in pencil drawing from outline sketches to finished pieces. The range of subjects to be covered includes landscapes, portraits and animals and there will be demonstrations and advice on all aspects of pencil work. Students
should bring an A3 sketch pad, a 3B graphic pencil and putty rubber.

HOBBY PATCHWORK
20-week course (10 weeks before Christmas & 10 weeks after Christmas)

A continuation of this popular hobby patchwork class where students work on their own projects or are guided by the tutor to try new techniques or ideas.

BEGINNERS PATCHWORK
8-week course begining Wednesday 1 October, 7pm-9.30pm

A class for the beginner or taster for a new hobby. Dispel all those myths about patchwork being difficult and learn the processes involved. During the 8 weeks participants will make a quillow which is a small quilt which folds up into a cushion. Each process will be explained: cutting out using a rotary cutter and mat, sewing together by hand or machine, pressing correctly, adding borders, mitring corners, layering the quilt, quilting by hand or machine
and binding. Come along and finish your quillow before Christmas. Fabric requirements given at enrolment.

ENROLMENT
Enrolment for all classes will take place from Tuesday 9 September at 9am and places are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Bookings cannot be taken before this date and all places must be paid for prior to attendance at the start of the class. Postal bookings will be opened on Wednesday 10 September and must be accompanied by the appropriate payment. If a class does not attract enough students it will not run and refunds will be made.

MATERIALS
Participants should bring their own materials. If you need assistance or recommendations of what and where to purchase items, the tutor will advise you at the first class.
