Ballymoney Sports Advisory Committee was founded in 1988 and is a fully constituted body, which serves the Ballymoney Borough Council area.
The Sports Advisory Committee’s key role is to represent both sports clubs and individuals in the Borough area. The Committee is funded by Ballymoney Borough Council and works closely with the Council.
To promote and encourage all aspects of sport and recreation in the Ballymoney Borough area. Note: The Sports Advisory Committee only promotes sports, which are officially recognised by The Sports Council for N. Ireland.
To monitor and evaluate the sporting and recreational needs of the Ballymoney Borough area and to subsequently advise on how these needs can be actioned.
To provide an information service detailing available sports facilities and an up to date record of all sporting organisations.
To provide a forum for local sports opinions.
To provide financial support to sporting individuals or clubs who compete at a high level and reside in or operate within the Ballymoney Borough area.
Not more than two members from each sporting club in the Borough area.
Local people interested in sport or recreation can be co-opted to the committee.
Representatives appointed by Ballymoney Borough Council.
The Committee maintains links with various national sporting bodies including; The Sports Council for N. Ireland, Ulster Sports Trust, and The N. Ireland Association of Sports Advisory Councils.
The Sports Advisory Committee is administered by a coordinating Committee, the secretary can be contacted through the Leisure & Amenities Department, Ballymoney Borough Council, Riada House, 14 Charles Street, Ballymoney.
