Ballymoney Borough Arts Committee assists Ballymoney Borough Council in developing an arts and cultural programme for the Borough. This includes music, visual arts, drama, film, literature & language, traditional arts, community arts, dance and history.
The main aims of the Committee are to promote and encourage artistic and cultural events in the Borough of Ballymoney and to support and encourage local arts and cultural groups.
Membership of the Committee is open to anyone living in the Borough who is interested in the arts. Elections take place every two years at a public meeting. Two Councillors and the Cultural Services Officer also serve on the Committee. Meetings take place 5 times a year normally in September, November, January, March & May.
The Committee operates a grant scheme which offers a small amount of funding to groups and individuals in the promotion and development of arts activities. Further details and application forms are available from the Leisure & Amenities Department.
Ballymoney Borough Arts Committee is also a member of Causeway Coast Arts.This Committee is made up of representatives of Ballymoney, Coleraine, Limavady & Moyle Council areas and the Cultural Affairs Committee of the University of Ulster at Coleraine and its aim is to “encourage, plan, direct and co-ordinate” arts activity in these areas.
