Dog Warden Service
The Council has a statutory role in the enforcement of the Dogs (Northern Ireland) Order 1983. The dog control service is responsible for issues including dog licensing, stray dogs, barking dogs and dog attacks. Stray dogs are impounded at the council dog kennels located at Knock Road, Ballymoney. In instances where stray dogs cannot be returned to their owners every effort is made by the service to find the dogs suitable homes.
Would you like to rehome a dog?
Dogs may be purchased from the Council for rehoming all year round. The cost of purchasing a dog is £11.75 plus £5 for a dog licence (£2.50 licence fee applicable for a person over 65 years old living alone). If you interested in rehoming a dog from the Council Pound please contact Borough Services Directorate on tel: 028 2766 0257 to arrange an appointment to view dogs.
