Birth Registrations
Births must be registered by law within 42 days from the date of the birth.
This can be effected by attending the Registrar’s Office in the district that the birth took place or in the district where the mother normally lives.
Once the registration is complete, the Registrar will issue the following forms:
- One free short birth certificate
- HS123 Infant Registration form to register with the Family Doctor and obtain a medical card.
Further certified copies (short or full) may be purchased from the Registrar at the time of registration for the reduced fee of £6.00.
